A Suburban Backyard

Living in the suburbs has many benefits, but all-too-often comes with a major downfall: backyards that lack privacy and space. This homeowner was sure that her yard was a lost cause because of the size, grade & privacy issues. We transformed it from an eyesore into an extension of the home's living space with an oversized, custom shaped stamped concrete patio. It's crown jewel is the large, natural gas fire pit. It was built at table-height with a ledge around the top that makes it large enough to function as a dining area for four guests. We took advantage of the large, previously wasted side yard by adding steps down from the patio and creating a children's play area. We lined the fences with trees for privacy and added a flower & herb garden along the house line. The project was completed with a new sprinkling system, drip lines & sod. The result: an entertainer's dream!
